And I feel there is no need to go messing around with it by adding\u00a0nuts. When I was younger, and I had Cracker Jack, I&#8217;d pick out the nuts and throw them at people (especially at the movie theater when no one could see&#8230;.).\u00a0Sadly, others in my family feel that nuts add that certain something&#8230;. so.. half the time I make it plain, and half the time I make it with nuts (and pick those little buggers out).<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>WARNING- This is not a Recipe to Make WITH kids, but a great recipe to make FOR kids&#8230; hot sugar is REALLY HOT! and can burn little fingers.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Honey Caramel Popcorn Recipe<\/h2>\n<p>This is a great recipe for\u00a0Honey Caramel Popcorn. It\u2019s not too complicated, but it does use a few special tools.<\/p>\n<p><em>Read through the recipe and instructions before starting!<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Make sure that you have all of your ingredients and tools set and ready. You don\u2019t want to have boiling sugar, and realize that you need to make popcorn! Just have everything ready, then you can go step by step.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Before you know it, you\u2019ll be munching away on Honey\u00a0Caramel\u00a0Popcorn\u2026.and if you want to\u2026. you can add nuts..<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-376\" src=\"http:\/\/notsoscaryhalloweenforkids.com\/scary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/honeypopcorn.jpg\" alt=\"honey caramel popcorn recipe\" width=\"453\" height=\"221\" \/>Serves:\u00a0me.. but I&#8217;ll share<\/p>\n<p>Prep Time:\u00a020- 25 min<\/p>\n<p>Total Time:\u00a01 hour<\/p>\n<h2>Ingredients<\/h2>\n<p>approx.12 cups popped popcorn<\/p>\n<p>1 cup Granulated Sugar<\/p>\n<p>1 cup Brown Sugar<\/p>\n<p>1\/2 cup Honey<\/p>\n<p>1 cup Butter<\/p>\n<p>**optional- 1 cup nuts<\/p>\n<p><strong>Instructions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Preheat oven to 300 degrees F<\/p>\n<p>Fill a cup with ice water&#8230; set a pastry brush in it.<\/p>\n<p>Pull your <a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2dT28YE\" target=\"_blank\">candy thermometer <\/a>out of the back of the utensil drawer and dust it off.<\/p>\n<p>Put some sheets of aluminum foil on your table or counter&#8230; large enough to spread the caramel popcorn out a bit when hot.<\/p>\n<p>Pick the Grannies (unpopped corn kernels) out of the popcorn as you pour it into 2 large baking pans.<\/p>\n<p>**if you plan to add nuts&#8230; now&#8217;s the time<\/p>\n<p>Set the pans of popcorn in the oven to keep warm.<\/p>\n<p>Put the sugars, honey and butter in a medium saucepan, and cook over medium-low heat stirring constantly with a wooden spoon. Try not to splash. Stir until sugars are completely dissolved. If you tap the bottom of the pan, you will feel if the sugar is still grainy.<\/p>\n<p>From time to time, wash the walls of the bowl down with the pastry brush dipped in ice water.<\/p>\n<p>When the sugar is completely dissolved&#8230; this could take 7 to 10 minutes&#8230;. wipe the walls one last time.<\/p>\n<p>Clip the candy thermometer to the side of the pan.<\/p>\n<p>Raise heat to medium.<\/p>\n<p>Stir only occasionally, very carefully so you don&#8217;t splash.<\/p>\n<p>(Pull the popcorn pans out of the oven&#8230; set them aside on hotpads)<\/p>\n<p>Cook until thermometer reads 255 degrees F.<\/p>\n<p>Remove from heat.<\/p>\n<p>Pour the caramel over popcorn&#8230; stir well&#8230; stick popcorn in oven<\/p>\n<p>Bake 10 minutes<\/p>\n<p>Stir again<\/p>\n<p>Bake 5 more minutes<\/p>\n<p>Dump out on to foil&#8230; and spread out a bit<\/p>\n<p>Cool completely before eating.<\/p>\n<p>Store AIRTIGHT.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-379 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/notsoscaryhalloweenforkids.com\/scary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/honeypopcorn3.jpg\" alt=\"Honey Caramel Popcorn Recipe\" width=\"250\" height=\"187\" \/>What Kind Of Nuts?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Well<strong>&#8230;<\/strong>For this particular batch, I used Honey Roasted Almonds.<br \/>\nBut you can try\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Honey Roasted Peanuts<br \/>\nCashews<br \/>\nSalted Peanuts<br \/>\nRoasted Almonds<br \/>\nShelled pumpkin seeds<br \/>\nMacadamia Nuts<\/p>\n<p>Or Whatever\u2026<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Step By Step Instructions with Photos<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>for Honey Caramel Popcorn Recipe<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Start Cooking Your Sugars, Honey and Butter<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Use a Big Enough Saucepan&#8230; that Distributes Heat Well<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-380 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/notsoscaryhalloweenforkids.com\/scary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/honeypopcorn4.jpg\" alt=\"honey popcorn\" width=\"448\" height=\"336\" srcset=\"https:\/\/notsoscaryhalloweenforkids.com\/scary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/honeypopcorn4.jpg 448w, https:\/\/notsoscaryhalloweenforkids.com\/scary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/honeypopcorn4-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 448px) 100vw, 448px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Your Saucepan makes a difference. Make sure it has a thick bottom to distribute heat evenly. It should be large enough to hold all of the ingredients with room to spare. Stir with a wooden spoon.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Use a <a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2eksC4R\" target=\"_blank\">Pastry Brush <\/a>to get the Sugar off of the Sides<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Dip the Pastry Brush in Ice Water<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Clean the sides of the pan. Sugar left on the walls of the pan will interfere with the creation of the caramel. Watch it carefully. You can stir occasionally if you feel like it. DON\u201dT SPLASH. When the temperature hits 255 degrees F.
