Make Chocolate Lollipops with Molds for Halloweens

Fancy Chocolate Lollipops make great favors for a Halloween Party. But buying them can get expensive. You can make Halloween lollipops with molds at home! Then wrap them in a cellophane bag tied with a ribbon. and give them out to friends!

NOTE- If you plan to give these out to Trick or Treaters, it’s probably best to just give them to kids you know, and who know you. Give the parents a head’s up that you are putting a home made treat in the bag.

These fun lollipops will be a hit with trick or treaters, or at your Halloween Party.

My daughter and I love molding chocolate… it’s a fun (and messy ) time for us in the Kitchen. The results are usually great, and almost always delicious!

And all you need is a few molds, some sticks, and CHOCOLATE!

Make Halloween Lollipops with Molds

Basically, you are melting chocolate, then pouring or piping it into a mold, and letting it harden. You can add multiple layers of colored chocolate for effect… or just use one color.

Begin with the chocolate…

How to Melt Chocolate in the Microwave

You need a Microwave Safe Bowl and Chopped Chocolate (you can use a double boiler, but with kids, this is easier, less fire) or an electric chocolate melting pot like the Wilton Pro Melting Pot.

When Using a Microwave

When I melt chocolate in a microwave, I use a pyrex measuring cup. It’s simple to use and has a handle to make it easier to carry without burning my fingers.

Use 50% power when microwaving chocolate… It’s best to go for a minute, stir, then go another minute, stir, and so on… until the chocolate is melted.

What Kind of Chocolate works for Lollipops?

When working with Chocolate, the final product depends on your ingredients. Using a better Chocolate like Ghiradelli is better if you want to make a nice truffle.

HOWEVER

If you want something easy, reasonably priced and great for kids… use Candy Melts

These candy melts from Wilton or Merkens come in a variety of colors… and a few flavors. There is no worry about fussy chocolate when you use these. They melt easily, and aren’t very temperamental.

How to Make Halloween Lollipops with Chocolate

1. Melt your Chocolate

2. Be sure the mold is clean and completely DRY (chocolate and water don’t mix well)

3. Pour the chocolate into a clean Lollipop Mold.

4. Tap the mold against the counter to settle the chocolate and get the bubbles out.

5. Lay in the lollypop sticks… rotate them once or twice to insure they are covered with chocolate.

6. Refrigerate until firm… (unless your kitchen is already cold)

7. Carefully pop or lift out of the mold

Multicolored Halloween Lollipops

Using more than one color for Halloween Lollipops is not that much more difficult, it’s just adding a layer of technique (and chocolate)

1. Melt different colors of chocolate
2. Using a clean paintbrush, paint the features inside the mold with the colors you want. Alternatively, use a small piping bag with a small hole cut into it.
3. Let it set.
4. Fill the rest of the way with melted chocolate… and continue as normal
