Looking for fun easy Halloween Treats Kids can make? My daughter and I LOVE molding Halloween Chocolate. Making your own Chocolate candy is easy… and if you use Candy Melts…. it’s even easier (they are quite forgiving). Just pop them into the microwave on low, stir, and it’s good to go. Halloween Chocolate Molds come in loads of shapes, witches, pumpkins, skeletons, fingers, and ghosts.

Kids and grown ups love how fun it is. My daughter really likes the gross-out factor, loves licking the bowl, and REALLY loves eating the finished product (so do I).

Fun Easy Halloween Treats Kids Can Make With Chocolate!

Use Halloween Chocolate Candy Molds to make Halloween treats for your next Halloween Party, or for Trick-or-Treat give-aways for kids you know…. or, when you want to get into the kitchen with a 9 year old.

So go, get the Kids into the kitchen! Using Chocolate Molds is easy and fun… so it’s a GREAT activity to do with kids. All ages can get involved. It’s been my experience that the younger kids do better with simple molds… but as they get older, you can try the more complex molds with more details. You can even add multiple layers of color.

How We Made the Chocolate Witch Fingers-

It’s a simple trick…. All you need is the Finger Mold, some Chocolate Candy Melts, a few White Chocolate Candy Melts, and a bit of Green Candy Food Color. (You can buy green chocolate melts…. I’m never sure how much I need, so I tend to get white and color it)

Prep Time: 5 Minutes
Total Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients

Witch Finger Mold
Chocolate Candy Melts
Few White Chocolate Melts and Green Food Color
(or, get the Green Chocolate melts)

Paint Brush

Instructions

Prepare the Chocolate mold… make sure it’s clean and dry.
Melt the Chocolate… I used a Pyrex Measuring Cup in the Microwave… Set for 30 seconds, check, go 30 more, stir, keep going 10 seconds at a time until it’s melted and smooth.

Spoon the chocolate into the molds… smooth to level.
Alternatively, use a squeeze bottle or piping bag to fill the chocolate molds neatly.

Stick in the refrigerator for 10 minutes.
Remove… make sure the chocolate feels hard…. Flip over and sort of carefully pop them out. (if one breaks, you can glue it with melted chocolate.)

Melt the white chocolate melts, add some green food color and mix. Paint the fingernails. Let sit until you are ready to eat.

These chocolate melts are easier to use than regular chocolate or chocolate chips.

We make “Chocolate Paint” by melting white chocolate melts, and adding food paste coloring and a little bit of shortening (the shortening prevents the chocolate from seizing… that is, stiffening up…. when water or food color get added in). Stir and you have colored chocolate, smooth enough for painting witch finger nails… or ghost eye balls.

Tools To Make Filling Molds EASY

Little fingers aren’t known for their dexterity (unless, of course, they are getting into something they shouldn’t). You can make these fun easy Halloween treats kids love a whole lot easier with a Squeeze Bottle or piping bag. Just fill the container and let the kid squeeze the chocolate into the mold. They are also super helpful when you start doing more advanced 2 and 3 color chocolates. Just squeeze the colors in one at a time. The color you want to see, the details like eyes or stripes, goes in first… then add the rest of the chocolate.

Simple Halloween Chocolate Candy Molds

These molds have simple shapes that aren’t too small. Perfect for starting out in chocolate molding. The clear plastic molds are much cheaper, but they don’t last as long. After a bit they tend to get kind of fragile. The silicone molds are definitely longer lasting.
