Pac Man Costume

pac man costume

Pac Man CostumeBecause of sports teams and scouts we end up doing a lot of group costumes in our world. This Pac Man Costume is a fantastic and easy costume for groups, teams or families…

The kids get to be the “ghosts” in the Pac Man Game

The adult (or biggest kid) can be Pac Man or Ms. Pac Man

You just need Felt and Imagination…

The “Ghosts” were created from a template that a mom sketched. Round across the top… then a wavy line at the bottom. Arm holes were left at the side, a head hole on top… and cute eyes complete the picture.

Ms. Pac Man is a bit more detailed… Round with arm holes, a head hole on top… then a pretty face.

Easy DIY Pac Man Costume

What you need-

Felt –  2 yards per costume (yellow for Pacman, whatever for the ghosts)
Felt remnants in black, white and light blue for the Eyes
Fabric Glue or Matching thread

How to Make a Pac Man Costume

For Pac Man

Fit Large yellow felt circles to the kid. The bottom of the circle should come just to the bottom of the knees.

Getting a circle is tricky, but do-able. Measure from the shoulders to the knees (my measurement was 36″). Half your measurement (mine is now 18″). Cut a length of string (or thread or yarn) about an inch longer than your measurement (mine string was 19″). Fold your felt in half lengthwise. Secure on end of your string in the middle (doesn’t have to be exact) of your fabric. Secure the other end of your string to a marker. Stretch your marker away from the center of your fabric and draw a circle! (You basically just made a huge compass.)

Cut your circles out.

Join front and back circles… either sew or use fabric glue. Be sure to leave a gap at the top big enough for your child’s head and a gap at the bottom large enough to not make it difficult for your child to walk.
(For the neck – Make a straight cut so the top of the circle wouldn’t their neck… and in the back of the neck cut a slit about 5″ down from the top so the fabric won’t rip when putting it on)

For the mouth, cut a big black wedge… is better to cut this too big and trim it later.

For the eye, cut a small black circle. Attach the eye and mouth by sewing or with fabric glue.

How to make Ghosts

Fold your fabric in half – and trim the bottom so it comes just below the child’s knees. Leave the width.

For the top of the ghost, cut the fabric so it curves at the top. (you can mark if you want) For the neck, cut it straight and then cut a 5″ slit at the back of the neck to make more room for your kid’s head.

Secure sides and top by sewing or with fabric glue.

For the bottom of the ghost, cut small rounded triangles out to make it look ghostly. This does not have to be perfect.

For the eyes – cute two white ovals. Just ball park what size looks good on your size ghost. Then cut out 2 small light blue circles. Glue the blue to the white, then attach to the ghost.
